10 Hot Tips to get the best from your website:

1.Get as many people as you can to link to your website and ensure your url (website address also known as uniform resource locater) is included on all advertisements, business cards and letter heads.

2. Have your keywords and/or phrases analysed; ask your web designer to check how many people have used these to visit sites similar to yours within the last 30 days. It is no good having a phrase or keyword on page one in Google if no one has actually used this to search on.

3. Keep content up-to-date and refresh it regularly.

4. Think of something new to add each month. Ensure visitors are aware of the date the website was last updated.

5.Refresh photographs and images. Highlight any special offers and/or news in your industry.

6. Keep in touch with your web designer - ask them what is new and are there any changes you should be made aware of.

7. Ask your web designer where you are ranking in the search engines; are you on the first three pages of Google? What other search engines and/or directories is your website appearing in?

8. Know who your competitors are and ensure you view their website's.

9. Keep submitting your website to new search engines and/or directories; ensure you keep a list of whom you have submitted your website to and when.

10. Look at your statistics on your server/hosting provider; ensure you know what phrase visitors have used to find your website. (These are usually provided free of charge by most hosting companies). Have you had any errors? i.e. people not finding certain pages regularly?
